Hey everyone!
I’m happy to report that I’m still alive and that the same goes for the Self Employed Movement.
The last time I wrote was September so it’s obviously been a couple of months.
I hope everyone is doing well and is progressing nicely towards their goals.
Happy New Year by the way.
It’s been a hectic couple of months for me.
I became the Logistics Manager at work around September. I don’t think that that’s a strange coincidence that this was the last time you’ve heard from me. This meant that I transitioned from just being “one of the guys” to being the guy. Besides the owner, I’m the highest on the totem pole. I’ve unofficially been in a position of authority throughout my work career and I was always the captain on my soccer teams growing up but this was a little different.
For the first time ever, I was someone’s boss. It was intimidating having authority over guys twice my age when I used to have the same position as them at first but now it’s no big deal.
There definitely was a learning curve but I think I’m a better leader and a better person overall now because of it.
I create the schedule and create the routes for the day. Basically, I have to make sure that all the trains run on time and I’m the Human Resources department of One. It hasn’t been easy but it’s been worth it.
Busy season at work now has come to an end. The weeks of working 40+ hours a week are over for now so that means I have some time to catch my breath and work on the blog and my businesses.
Speaking of businesses, I’m officially a business owner now. Getting the infrastructure in place took some time, energy, and frustration but I’m a legal entity now. Woot! Woot!
I also almost bought an existing company for $200,000. Go big or go home, right?! That’ll be a blog post of it’s own in the coming weeks.
My wife and I recently returned from vacation in the Portland, Oregon area. It was the first time she saw snow and it’s the first time either of us went snowboarding. It was exhausting but a lot of fun.
I’m excited to get back to writing.
Thanks for reading and thanks for sticking around!
